MBC Brokerage was founded in 2016 as a division of MBC Legal, Canada's HR-law firm for doctors. True to it's micro-niche philosophy, when launching the brokerage MBC brought aboard some of the leading brokers in the industry, including Tom Schramm and Jon Walton, who are highly respected in the industry and noted for their client-service excellence.

OUR TEAM MEMBERS
Jon Walton has guided countless numbers of doctors nationwide through the appraisal and sale of their most emotional, and likely most valuable asset - their practice. From a very young age, Jon spent countless hours in veterinary practices, as well as other professional practices learning every facet of the clinical, managerial, and ownership aspects of practice from his father and mentor, Dr. John Walton. Jon Walton is actively involved with many of the national associations including the Hamilton Academy of Veterinary Medicine, lecturing in continuing education events and writing articles for national and international publications. With his expertise in negotiations, sales, and his long taught ability to run a successful hospital, Jon will help doctors realize their practices' full potential, both now, and for the future.
Tom Schramm has been working with healthcare professionals for 33 years. After spending 13 years financing healthcare professionals, Tom decided to change careers and in 1995 he joined another leading brokerage. A few months later he became a licensed real estate salesperson under the Real Estate & Business Brokers Act (Ontario). He then proceeded to fulfill the requirements and became a registered Real Estate & Business Broker in May 2006.
Tom has been involved in appraisals and sales of hundreds of practices since 1996, also providing advice and support to practitioners in all stages of their careers. He was instrumental in the launch of MBC Brokerage and is the Broker of Record. He continues to assist healthcare professionals with their transitional needs. He is always available for individual consultations or to provide informal presentations about appraisals and transitions to societies or study groups.
Irv started his career in retail banking after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1977. He went on to obtain his MBA at the Rotman School of Management in 1987 and moved into Commercial Banking. Over the next 16 years, Irv took progressively more senior Commercial Banking positions at Schedule II banks eventually becoming an Assistant Vice President. In the booming 80’s he also spent some time in venture capital. In 2003, Irv was appointed Senior Regional Manager at Scotiabank where he was responsible for marketing and coordinating the bank's Scotia Professional Plan in the GTA. In this capacity, Irv assisted dentists, doctors, optometrists and veterinarians to efficiently run and grow their professional practices, open new practices and transition in and out of existing practices. He is well connected in the professional industries and enjoys connecting his clients with the other experts who can assist them to manage and grow a successful practice.
David grew up around the healthcare industry as his father, Tom, has been dealing with healthcare professionals for most of his career. He attended appraisals and meetings with Tom gaining introductions to dentists and industry professionals. He also did an internship during high school at the Brokerage where his father worked giving him insight into how the business worked.
David loved marketing and decided to chart his own path attending Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. He graduated from the Marketing program and began his career in sales and marketing.
He worked in sales roles for major companies such as Bell, Coca-Cola, and TD. Through these positions, David developed and refined his sales skills for a variety of clientele. His two interests came together when he moved into marketing department for the Brokerage. While running the department, David also obtained his real estate licence and began training with his father. David moved out of the marketing department and into a sales role to focus on advancing his career.
When the opportunity to join a team starting a brokerage became available, he knew that he had to take it. David is now one of the sales representatives at MBC Brokerage who are available for your appraisal and sales needs.
Mariana Bracic
Founding Lawyer
Mariana Bracic began her legal career in 1994 at a prominent Bay Street law firm advising clients on employment law issues. Six years later, she became Advisory Counsel with the Law Society of Upper Canada, the regulator of all the lawyers in the province. As Advisory Counsel, she was responsible for ensuring the highest standards for Ontario lawyers in ethics and competence.
In 2003, Ms Bracic opened MBC Legal, a boutique employment law firm and in 2016, in response to overwhelming client demand MBC Brokerage.
An honours graduate in political science from the University of Toronto, Ms Bracic graduated from Queen's University Law School where she ranked first in her class in Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure and Remedies. She has been entrusted with teaching tomorrow’s lawyers, having taught both Professional Responsibility and Civil Litigation at the Bar Admission Course. She is frequently asked to be a keynote speaker for continuing education programs and has guest lectured at Ontario law schools.
Dirk de Lint
Director, Legal Affairs
Dirk was called to the bar in 1996 and began his law career at a top-tier Bay Street law firm. He then joined a prominent government regulator where he was highly regarded as a national authority for 13 years, and rose to the rank of Senior Legal Counsel. His exceptional legal experience (including a mastery of "plain language drafting", successfully liaising with government, and effective diplomacy) are invaluable contributions in MBC's relentless work to advance its employer-doctors' legal interests to the absolutely maximum extent possible.
